Buchibi
Buchibi is an idle battler built for web, mobile, WeChat, and Telegram. It's set in the Bushi universe and serves as a companion game for Bushi by allowing players to earn in-game items by beating bosses in Buchibi.
My roles were Creative Director and Lead Technical Artist. You can play during events at buchibi.com.
Creative Direction
Since Buchibi is a mini-game version of our anime-inspired competitive game, we decided to center the game around "chibis" of our main characters. Players collect the chibis to fight enemies from the Bushi lore. Once enemies are defeated, they also become potential teammates. As future playable characters are introduced into Bushi, they will also appear as chibis in Buchibi.
Technical Art
My technical involvement in the project was primarily oriented around optimizing file sizes. Since the game targets messaging platforms like WeChat and Telegram, it was important to make the distributable as small as possible. Our goal was <3MB in size and we were able to accomplish this. Small images, algorithmic/procedural animations, and data stored externally made this possible.
